"Across the Universe"

One of the last movies I saw was “Across the Universe”, an original movie musical from the director Julie Taymor. The main story is about a young Englishman, Jude (Jim Sturgess), who travels to America in the 1960s to find his father. Once he is there, he falls in love with an American teenager, Lucy (Evan Rachel Wood), who was the youngest sister of Max (Joe Anderson). The three of them lived through exciting adventures, until Max is called to fight in the Vietnam War; in that moment Lucy become involved in peace activism.
This is an original musical film, which moves to everyone combining live action and animation with many songs written by The Beatles that defined the time, and which are one of the main attractions of this movie.
One of the weakness of this film is that portrays the “nice part of the war”, and do not considers the ugly stuff who had to live through thousands of soldiers in that time. But also that could be one of the ideas of the film; to show the other part of the war, the part when many people were fighting for the peace in a different way, without guns, only with their voice. Finally, I totally recommend this film, because it’s very interesting, and romantic, and full of content, and because I really enjoy the music, it’s a great bonus, and it’s totally worth it.
